in detail in just a minute.                                                            But first, here’s the headline and news story that caught my eye: “Woman mistakes skunk for a cat, gets sprayed!

MOUNT CARMEL, Pa. - A Pennsylvania woman who thought she was petting a
neighbor's cat got a smelly surprise when it turned out to be a skunk.
Not only did the skunk spray the woman before dawn Monday, but it ran into her Mount Carmel home.            Police spent hours at the home before
leaving the scene, but there was no immediate word if they were able to remove the animal.”                                          First of all, this is a very real news story… I just couldn’t make this up.                                                                            More importantly, this story reminded me of an extremely important lesson most networkers never learn.              Allow me to explain:                                                                   You see, this story reminds me of prospecting.                 After all, this woman was naïve, enthusiastic, and even eager to reach out to those around her…                                to extend her hand in friendship…                                       ONLY to be SHOCKED and HORRIFIED by the outcome! With such a bad taste in your mouth, anyone would be reluctant (and even fearful) to prospect ever again.           And who could blame you?                                                       But that is where the REAL lesson is.                             Clearly, the woman in this story – she was not at fault in her actions and desires, she just chose the wrong prospect! This woman accidentally pet a skunk... when what she really wanted has a cat.                                                              Chances are you’re doing the same thing in your networking business! Rather than talking to “red hot” recruits, you’re spinning your wheels with the not intrested, not going to do anything crowd. WAKE UP
